These paintings were part of a group exhibition at Gallery 1988 celebrating one of my all-time favorite films, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. It was called “I Know You Art, But What Am I?”
I focused on the two important supporting female roles in the film: Simone, the soulful truck stop waitress, and Dottie, the spunky bicycle shop employee with a soft spot for Pee-wee. I also got Speck in there because he is truly an underrated character in that film.
