Sharing an iPod, Sharing the Record Player
2011, Acrylic on Board

These paintings were created for a Norman Rockwell themed show at a gallery that no longer exists, and which I can’t remember the name of. I have a real fondness for drawing teenagers – not as cute as little kids but not yet adults, they’re caught in this liminal space of becoming something but not being nearly there yet. Lots of lanky limbs and odd haircuts. Rockwell liked doing these adorable vignettes with kids sharing an ice cream soda, so I did my own contemporary take on that. Sharing an ipod is an adorable thing that I guess nobody does anymore. Sharing a record player is equally cute, and I guess record players have become more ubiquitous and timeless – in 2011 they were experiencing a trendy moment.
